Introduction

D2O Scuba is located at the luxurious Grenadian by rex resorts in Point Salines, Grenada. We are on a secluded beach where the crystal waters are only feet from our door.

Our prime location means that both the Caribbean and Atlantic dive sites are only minutes away.

Gold PalmFacilities

We run a two tank dive in the morning and a single tank dive in the afternoon as well as weekly snorkelling and dive trips to Grenada’s National Marine Park.

We also offer non-motorized water sports which are FREE to guests who stay all inclusive at the Grenadian.

D2O Scuba is a PADI 5 star Gold Palm Instructor Development Centre.

DEVOTION 2 OCEAN GOES THE EXTRA MILE AND A HALF TO BRING A GREATER LEVEL OF SERVICE - Devotion 2 Ocean is proud to announce the latest upgrade to its Dive Facility. This time though, it’s not new equipment, but a new qualification.

On 22nd July 2006 – RUTH COLLYMORE achieved the highest PADI qualification of Course Director, in Newport Beach, California. Ruth Collymore, co-owner of Devotion 2 Ocean is the first ever Grenadian Course Director, and making Devotion 2 Ocean the ONLY dive centre in Grenada to have a Course Director permanently on staff. Because Ruth is permanently on staff and not a freelance Course Director, she has all the facilities, equipment and amenities to hand in one location, rather than having to go from place to place.

Devotion 2 Ocean is now able to run Instructor Development Courses (IDCs), and D2O now offers training from Entry level to PADI Instructor, EFR Instructor and Instructor Specialties.

Whether you are looking for a career path or a career change then think hard about becoming a Dive Instructor in the sunny waters of the Caribbean: it’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it! Be it the love of Diving, the opportunity to teach, or the lifestyle, becoming a PADI Instructor will change your life completely.

The IDC consists of two sections, the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. This structure lets you divide the course into two blocks for schedule convenience if you need to. However, you may prefer to complete the two portions together, going through the entire IDC in as few as seven days.

The first part of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the PADI Assistant Instructor course. This course provides you additional experience as a PADI Professional and teaches you the PADI System of diver education.

Even if you are not currently a certified diver, it’s not necessarily too soon to start planning a career as a PADI Professional. You may know you love the underwater world from snorkelling, the Discover Scuba Diving experience or other experiences and you want to start thinking about a career that involves diving. If this describes you, obviously your first step is getting the PADI Open Water Diver certification.

For more information on what’s involved in becoming a PADI Professional check out this link http://www.padi.com/padi/en/td/howtogopro.aspx

GOODNESS GRACIOUS GRENADA – TURTLE FRENZY! As if that wasn’t enough excitement, Devotion 2 Ocean witnessed turtle frenzy on the beach this season with nesting and hatching on four separate occasions!

See the diary notes for activities this 2006 turtle season:

July 11th - Nesting turtle on Magazine beach.
August 10th - Witnessed another nesting on Magazine beach.
August 12th – HATCHLINGS! - 40 live hawksbill hatchlings were discovered heading down to the sea, and those who were headed the wrong way were helped in the right direction by Ocean.
August 13th – Yet another turtle nesting on Magazine beach.
September 4th – HATCHLINGS! More than 50 turtles discovered by security in the early hours of Monday morning.
September 21st – HATCHLINGS! 8 live found and helped towards the sea – majority seemed to have made it to the ocean according to their tracks.

Turtle
The Hawksbill Turtle, Eretmochelys imbricate.
After an incubation period that ranges from 50-70 days, hatchlings will begin to emerge, usually at night when the sand temperature is cool, and predators (such as crabs, mongoose, rats, and fish) pose less of a threat. Emerging in small groups during the night, and sometimes over multiple evenings, hatchlings will immediately head toward the sea, attracted to the light of the moon and stars reflected off the ocean.
